weekday関数は第一関数で指定したセルの値（日付型）から曜日を表示する関数です。
但し1～7の値が返ってきます。1は日、2は月、3は火、...というように対応付けされています。

セルの値が空白の場合、7（日曜日）と表示されます。
また、セルの値が日付型でない場合、エラーとなります。
weekday関数は主に以下のようにセルを指定して使用します。
weekday(B5)

このようにすると、指定されたセルの日付の曜日が計算されます。
以下例です。
